In which we do the initial strip of the bottom of the carb.

Here's what it looks like from the left side. you can see the idle mixture, idle speed and choke atomiser in a row at the bottom of the venturi (in that order, left to right in the photo)
first up, drain the  fuel and remove the plug at the bottom of the float bowl, which will allow you to remove the bowl.
The view from beneath - main jet in the middle, between the floats, idle jet immediately under it. The main jet is a 125 (up from a stock 115) - which Pete Roper says is about the richest you ever need to make one of these carbs - so this may be a bit too rich for the current setup.
Measuring the float level. Oops, the manual says 17.5mm to 18.5mm, whereas we have around 16.5 here. This will be also be part of the cause of the over-richness.
Out comes the main jet.
Now the idle jet. This is a stock 50.
